Green Light Trust,an environmental and educational charity, has an exciting scheme called Community-owned WildSpace, which guides and assists such projects. WildSpace is an in-depth programme aimed to help communities design and manage their own wild spaces – for pleasure, for learning and for wildlife.  These spaces may be woodland, old-orchards, meadows or wetlands.  At a time when more and more land and habitats are under threat from development Green Light aims to build a unique patchwork of rejuvenated landscapes throughout the UK to enable trees and wildlife to flourish.

What we want to do

A group of local people have been looking at the possibility of creating a community WildSpace for our area. It could be a place for us all to enjoy - and something positive to leave behind for future generations.

A number of communities around the country have already embarked on such a project and are already enjoying the benefits.

To this end we have sought advice from Green Light Trust, an environmental and educational charity. Green Light has grown successful woodland with its own community in Suffolk and is dedicated to helping other groups do the same.

The scheme is called Community-owned WildSpace and embraces a whole range of aspects
